Young Frankenstein – October 19
Event is free, courtesy of the REA Charitable Trust The Fort Stockton Film Society will host a special screening of the classic Mel Brooks comedy, Young Frankenstein on Saturday, October 19 at 7:00 pm. The movie will be the Film Society’s Halloween choice for October. Young Frankenstein stars Gene Wilder, Peter Boyle and Teri Garr as Dr. Frankenstein, the creature and the female assistant respectively. The film is a parody of the classic horror film genre, in particular the various film adaptations of Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel Frankenstein. Young Frankenstein is ranked #13 on the American Film Institute’s list of the 100 Funniest Movies, and uses many of the props from the 1931 film Frankenstein. It was also shot in black and white to resemble the early Universal horror films of the 1930s. The screening will start at 7:00 pm, with doors opening at 6:30. Admission is free, courtesy of the Rea Charitable Trust, but donations are gladly accepted. Young Frankenstein will be shown at the Nelson Street Theatre, located at 102 S Nelson Street in downtown Fort Stockton. Because the FS Film Society wanted to avoid “slasher” films, this screening is their Halloween selection, More upcoming screenings: November 23 and December 7. Mark your calendars and watch for your favorite movie and more in 2025!
