Fort Stockton Community Theatre invites kids to Be Cool in the new Nelson Street Theatre and Stay Cool in summer theatre workshops during the month of June. Two two-week workshops will be offered by Susann Hall and Alice Duerksen for kids to learn theatre skills and stage presence to prepare for a theatre presentation at the end of June.
Session I will be Monday through Friday June 1 – 12; Session 2 will be Monday through Friday June 15-26. Students who have completed Kindergarten through the end of fourth grade will attend a section from 1:00 – 3:00 each afternoon; while students who have completed fifth grade through the end of seventh grade will attend from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. each afternoon. Only ten students per section will be allowed. Students will be screened with a non-touch thermometer, and hands will be washed upon entering and before leaving. The performances at the end of the workshops will allow for social distancing in the audience.
The cost per student is $30.00 for the two-week session. Students will learn to feel comfortable on stage before an audience and will learn to express themselves clearly in various characterizations. Students will use prepared scripts and story lines as well as creating their own material to perform.
Fort Stockton Community Theatre is excited to offer the young people of our community an opportunity to Be Cool while they learn theatre skills that will help them Stay Cool enjoying the performing arts. We are very proud of the talented young people who have worked with us in productions through the years and are eager to encourage other young people to join the fun of live theatre.
Scholarships are available.
